Silkstone Piccolo
Key of D
Available in British Racing Green or Pearlescent Red
Silkstone wind instruments are made in England by Paul Hayward, who pays
tremendous attention to the smallest of details. This piccolo is made of uPVC and painted
with a gloss metallic paint - most cars would be envious of the paint job - and they sound
as good as they look! They have a wonderful, round flute-like tone, and are loud enough to
keep up in sessions without being overpowering or shrill. The piccolo does have a
removable rubber cork, for adjustments and/or cleaning.
Our picture of this piccolo really doesn't do it justice. for a more
accurate image of the beautiful finish on this instrument, please take a look at our Silkstone Whistle Page.
This Soprano D piccolo is an excellent choice for someone that wants to
try their hand a flute-like instrument. It is played with the exact same fingerings as a
Soprano D whistle and is capable of the same two octave range. The gently tapered finger
holes are very comfortable.
Each piccolo is individually numbered and initialed, and comes with a
handsome hand-made pouch, and "Owners Manual" (see pics below). The Owners
Manual includes a fingering chart, as well as some info about Paul Hayward, Silkstone, and
his instruments.
