The Low Whistle Book

114 Pages - By Steáfán Hannigan & David Ledsam

Includes CD

This is a perfect book for anyone that wants to learn the Low D whistle. It's very complete (see the contents below), and is written in a clear, entertaining style.

The section that covers the history of the Low Whistle (or "Whistory" as it's called in the book) is quite interesting, as is the section on Low Whistle Makers. There are many pictures of Low Whistle players (and makers), lots of fingering diagrams, and of course plenty of great tunes.

The Low Whistle - CD

The CD follows the lessons in the book, as well as the tunes (64 minutes, 80 tracks). Note that not all tunes in the book are covered on this CD. A second CD will be available in the future that covers the additional tunes. We will post a note in the "New Items" section of our Home Page when the 2nd CD is available.

While this book/CD set does cover some of the basics of reading sheetmusic very well, if reading sheetmusic is completely new to you, you might also want to pick up a book that sticks to the very basics a little more ("You Can Teach Yourself Tinwhistle" would be a good choice).

If you're new to whistles, we always recommend a Soprano D as your first whistle (Low whistle can be a bit intimidating at first). See our Beginner's Section for information on this. You might also want to take a look at our Low D Whistle Page, before purchasing a "Low" whistle.

If you don't already own a Low D whistle, you'll find a good selection in the "Low Whistles" section of the Whistles Page in our Online Catalog.
