Victorian Singing Games Set
By Clarke
Available with the Natural
Original Clarke Whistle
Or with the Gold Meg D Whistle!
This whistle set is new from the Clarke Tinwhistle Company. It
comes in a gift box, and includes a Natural Original
Clarke Whistle, of a Gold Meg
Whistle (key of D), and a sheet that includes a fingering chart, playing tips
and care for your whistle, ideas for children's performances, a brief history of Clarke's
pennywhistles, and six different children's singing games that children can play and sing
while someone plays whistle. These fun, wholesome games should be perfect for Day
Care or Sunday School classes. The tunes are very simple to play and sing, and
the games have simple, easy to understand instructions.

The Original Clarke is an excellent whistle for a beginner -
it is played easily in the entire two octave range, and has a wonderful flute-like tone.
It is made by Clarke - a company that has been making whistles since 1843.
The Meg whistle is extremely popular with new players - we sell more of this
whistle to Whistle Teachers than any other whistle that we stock!

In the time of Queen Victoria there was a huge repertoire of Singing
Games which little children sang and played in their playgrounds or in the streets. There
were, of course, no cinema, radio, computer games or T.V., so the children found their own
amusement, in which these Singing Games played a large part. The tunes were easy to sing
and remember. The Clarke Pennywhistle, being inexpensive, was the one melodic instrument
which many children could afford to own. It was the instrument of the streets and
playgrounds. It is said that it even got it's name because children played it for pennies
in the streets...

Below is a close-up of one of the singing games that are included.
