Hi All,
Our next Slow Session at The Whistle Shop is tentatively set for Saturday March 5th from 10:00am – Noon. I’ll send another email verifying this when we’re a little closer to that date.
It was a good Slow Session this morning; we had a nice mix of instruments there. We decided to add a few new tunes; the first one that I’ll be adding at the website is “Donnybrook Fair”. I’ll try to get at least the sheetmusic posted for it later tonight (or possibly on Sunday). I probably won’t send another email out once I get it posted – just watch for it at the website sometime this weekend.
Another thing that we decided at the Slow Session this morning (or should I say “I decided”…) is that everyone needs to start weaning themselves off of the sheetmusic for some of the tunes that we’ve been working on for a long time. We’re going to start with “Off to California” – the sheetmusic will be put away when we play this tune at the next Slow Session! We will of course make exceptions if any newer players show up. The next tune that we’ll be doing away with the sheetmusic on is “Road to Lisdoonvarna”.
NEW STUFF:
I’ve posted recordings at the Slow Session website for “Banish Misfortune”, and for “Merrily Kiss the Quaker”. I also posted new sheetmusic for “Banish Misfortune” (we just changed a few notes; you’ll find the changed notes marked with asterisks on the sheetmusic). The recording does match the new sheetmusic.
See you all soon!
