Re: Slow Session at The Whistle Shop, 05/03/03
Hi All,
Just a quick note to let everyone know that there is indeed a Slow Session at The Whistle Shop tomorrow morning (Saturday, May 3rd) from 10:00am to Noon. As soon as we get a little more organized, we’ll send emails like this regularly that will also include info about the tunes that we’ll be working on at future Sessions, along with links to where you’ll find recordings of the tunes that we’re working on.
A few things that might help in the mean time:
The BBC’s “Virtual Session” – This is where I got the sheetmusic for some of the tunes that we worked on at our first Slow Session. You’ll find sheetmusic (including guitar chords) there, along with Session-style recordings:

JC’s TuneFinder – A great site to search for sheetmusic for just about any traditional Celtic tune:

Amazing Slow Downer – I highly recommend this for everyone! It enables you to take any music CD (or music file on your computer) and slow it down to a speed that’s comfortable for you play along with, without changing the pitch (you can also change the pitch if you need to). It’s very simple to use:
Clips & Snips – Recordings of mostly amateur whistle players, but lots of nice tunes:

Stress Café – Listings of Irish music events in the Midwest:

Wandering Whistler – Greg Mahan’s website, a very good source of traditional Irish sheetmusic:

Chiff & Fipple – The best place on the internet for unbiased whistle information:
See ya Saturday!
