Slow Session at The Whistle Shop
Hi All,
There will NOT be a Slow Session at The Whistle Shop on Saturday May 21st! I hope that everyone will be attending the Illinois Highland Games & Celtic Festival in Springfield, IL on that day. Our next Slow Session is tentatively set for Saturday June 4th. This should give us all lots of time to learn some of the Slow Session tunes and get rid of that darn sheetmusic! I’ll send another email confirming our next Session when we’re closer to June 4th.
That’s the only info that’s directly Slow-Session-related for now. The rest of this email will probably only be of interested to those of you here in Central Illinois…
Here are a few upcoming events that might be of interest (for details, maps and directions for any of these events, check out Bloomsday’s Schedule Page):
Saturday May 21st - Illinois Highland Games & Celtic Festival – this Fest is a great time every year. It’s held at the Illinois State Fair Grounds in Springfield. In addition to all the Scottish Games and Highland Pipers - Bloomsday, Exorna and Spiral Seisiun will be playing throughout the day. I highly recommend coming to this event!
Sunday May 22nd – Mike and Molly’s (Champaign, IL) – This is the taping of a pledge program for WILL-TV. The show will air on or around St. Patrick’s Day next year. It's being held out in the beer garden; ‘sounds like it’s going to be lots of fun. Bloomsday, Exorna, Spiral Session, Lisa Boucher and Friends, and possibly one other group will all be playing. The show starts at 8:00pm, but there’s also a “regular Session” that day (upstairs) that starts at 5:00.
May 27th – 30th – Chicago Gaelic Park Irish Fest – this one’s always a great time too (it’s a huge festival). If you go up for this Fest, make sure to catch Bloomsday playing there on Sunday and Monday ;o)
Sunday June 5th – Benefit for “Relay For Life” at the K of C hall (Bloomington, IL) – please come out and show your support for this very worthy cause!
See you all soon!
